So today is what I call my marathon workout day. I’m taking an extra long boot camp class with my favorite blonde trainer Craig Ramsay (who you might recognize as Jackie’s assistant trainer on Thintervention). Craig has really taken me under his wing and as a trainer he really understands what I am dealing with when it comes to PCOS. He asks about how I am feeling in regards to my medication, how my eating is, and he constantly changes the workouts to keep my body in top shape.
Why am I am bragging about this fabulousness? I brag because it important when you start your workout regime, that you surround yourself with people who understand where you are coming from physically, mentally and emotionally. I know what you are thinking, “trainers, gyms, eating healthy is so expensive!” True. It’s not free, and being a 23-year-old on my own, trust that I know better than anyone the value of a dollar.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are so many great gyms that are eager for members, they do all kinds of monthly/membership specials. I pay less than 30 dollars a month for my gym and I have a friend that pays 20 dollars a month. I have developed relationships with different fitness teachers, which not only helps me stay motivated to work out but I gain a new friend in the process.
Now to eating healthy. I was once told by a very popular blonde lady trainer whose name rhymes with Backie, that “eating healthy will save you so much money!” Only if its opposite day.
You have to be smart where you shop. If you live in an area that has a farmers market, the prices tend to be better than at the grocery store. Also (especially in the fall and winter) buy frozen veggies- they actually have more nutrients because they are flash frozen right after they are picked.
Bottom line is that your life is meant to be amazing, not just perfunctory. You deserve every delicious moment you can get- hopefully one that is low in calories
For those of you that will be in the LA area this Thursday September 30th I will be performing in the Belly Room at The Comedy Store at 8pm. Tickets are 10 dollars plus a two item purchase inside. Hope to see you there!!

Stacy, I just want to thank you so much for having the courage to go public with your stand against PCOS. I was diagnosed fifteen years ago, when I was 23. It has frustrated and angered me to no end that there is no public awareness of this disorder, and that even medical professionals can be inexcusably ignorant, misinformed and callous in treating patients with PCOS. After all of these years, because of the silence, shame, misunderstanding and alienation that surrounds it, I remain the only person that I know personally who has PCOS – it’s so wrong, yet I’m sure you can relate! This year I have become more motivated to take charge of improving my health, to take responsibility for educating myself about the disorder, and to reach out to others with PCOS for mutual support. I hope to someday, somehow take on an activist role so that future generations of women with PCOS have better information, support, treatment and public understanding available to them. Thank you so much again for all that you are doing in this respect – I’ve been watching you on the show and I’m wholeheartedly rooting for your success!!!
thank you so much Kristi for sharing your story with me and for following the blog. I’m so glad that you have found the motivation within yourself to change your health, and know that you are not alone on that journey. Thanks again for your kind words and best of luck!
xoxo
